The Holders Anonymous
Hey /x/, just wondering, has anyone, be it you or someone you know, ever attempted to find one of "the objects" from the holder series?

I know its fiction and what not but I thought it'd be interesting if anyone actually has tried it and would like to know if anyone has.

In any city, in any country, go to any mental institution or halfway house you can get yourself to. When you reach the front desk, ask to visit someone who calls himself "The Holder of the End". Should a look of child-like fear come over the worker's face, you will then be taken to a cell in the building. It will be in a deep, hidden section of the building. All you will hear is the sound of someone talking to themselves echoing throughout the halls. It is in a language that you will not understand, but your very soul will feel unspeakable fear.

Why would anyone try it? They're so badly written and derivative, so uninspired.

and then i went and spent a couple days reading all of these... because i smell an awesome series hidden in here somewhere...

hey, some of them are pretty good.

I was actually planning on trying one of them.

So what exactly do these objects look like, or is it different for each?

A few years back this batshit insane hobo was raving in the alley behind my store while I was throwing out the expired bread. I was pretty use to it because it was a shitty part of town. The guy all of a sudden just ran up to me, looked me in the eye, and handed me this old wooden block while saying something like "never open it, it holds <sfasdfllajf>". Not sure what he said, might've just been because he was mumbling but it like spanish or something. Then he ran off.

Yeah, it sounds stupid, but hobos are crazy like that. Funny part is that it was just a block, no lid or anything, and it felt solid.

I found the Holder of the End in

Dominion Mental Health Hospital, Falls Church VA.

My cousin who lives there said he was there. I went and did what the story said to do, the nurse did lead me to a padded room I asked him

"What happens when they all come together?"

All he did was say that his grandmother was going to pick him up, he was a pretty cool guy. But then he cupped his hands and held them out for me to see something. I looked and I took it, I'm not insane or anything.

It was a wheat penny, but it's counterfeit it's greasy and the base metal shows through. I still have it, I just pocketed it, they frisked me in and out but a penny is no big deal to them.

Each story -usually- describes the object, though some like the first are secretive, or kill you if you look at it.

Also, cut open that block and see if the apocalypse is inside.

But really, do I have the object and the insanity is implanted in my brain like some kind of stealth bomb, or is it fake, because it was pretty damn close to the story,
>> Nuance !!Oo43raDvH61
It's a pretty good series, I read all of them over the course of about 2 weeks.

so is /x/ going on a crusade for holders?

You'll have to find me first.
>> puppy !!YH9xkWkwPrS
it says in the begining of eech one that you can go to ANY mental hospitle. so y not just go to the same one over and over agen and colect all ov them?????
>> Anonymous
Now that you guys got me thinking about that hobo box, I'm starting to wonder if there is anything hidden in it. For some reason I didn't throw it away after the guy gave it to me, I think I have it in my stash of assorted crap somewhere.

If you try to obtain the final object like that, you forget evrything you have ever known.

ALSO

most are not in mental wards

Get somebody else to open it. Far away from you. Preferrably someone you don't like.

Pft, it's probably just some box the hobo found in a dumpster. I'll cut the bastard open, waiting till tomorrow though because I'm not searching through my garage at this hour.

"A Seeker can never give an Object away. It can only be taken by force, earned fairly, or its owner must have died a natural death. :An Object can never be tossed away. If it is, it will find its way back to the owner through a series of coincidences (the Legend of the Black Pearl is a tale of one such Object)"

probably not one of the objects tbh
>> Anonymous
>>1120373

Well then, I won't be able to destroy it if that's the case, since it has to return to the hobo, right? Also, the definition of "earn" is kind of subjective - I worked closing shifts and every night I threw out the bread that was past the shelf date into an unlocked dumpster which was promptly raided by hobos. So technically I might have been feeding the guy. There's also no way to know if the guy ran off to die, he was acting delirious...

Anyways, it's probably just trash. I vaguely recall that it wasn't really dirty, so he probably just found it. It was smooth and kind of glossy though, so it wasn't just some scrap wood.

What is the holders? is it an internet joke or a series of books or what? Have heard it mentioned on /x/ alot but never understood.

The Holders are a series of weird not-really-story things that involve going to a mental institute, being led down a dark hallway, and then obtaining some sort of item that you should not use. Also, you should not unite all of the items (I forget how many there are).

Well I just assumed earned fairly means that you completed the task connected to the object. And it still says that a seeker can't give it away and since he gave it to you... I don't know. Just doesn't seem very likely that it's an object.

Plus the fact that the holders arent real... It's just made up shit by random people. On the website there's guidelines on how you can write your own and add it to the list even.

http://theholders.org/?Guidelines

but if it was real I still don't think that box of yours would be one of the objects.

I wrote a holder story. Holder of Nightmares, check that shit out.

SCP series is god tier. Though the name "foundation" bugs me - makes it sounds too much like a charity.

That's a win-win situation!

If you give in to the arousal, you live eternally in ignorant fucking BLISS! If you pass the test, you get the fucking awesome suit.

Yup. SCP series is full of win. I authored SCP-999 (not one of the best, but I'm proud of it)

What if some decent director made a movie or even a series out of this?
It could be a journey starting in the real world where the holders where actually fiction, slowly drifting into the seekers' madness and then into the reality of the actual existence of the holders.

Something about: they exist because enough people believed them to exist and cared enough to look for them.
>> Anonymous
I would not look for the objects, because I would go into a mental institution or whatever and with my luck, a /b/tard would be working the desk, and he would have a great time fucking with me.

>>1121213
Someone did, they called it The Lost Room.

>>1121260
The concept looks simmilar enough.
Is there any further proof of the movie being based on the holders?
