From the Files of Site 19. S. S. Walrus
Item#: SCP-173
Special Containment Procedures: Item SPC-173 is to be kept in a locked container at all times. When personnel must enter SCP-173's container, no fewer than 3 may enter at any time and the door is to be relocked behind them. At all times, two persons must be looking at SCP-173 until all personnel have vacated and relocked the container.
Description: Moved to Site19 1993, little is known about item number SCM-173's origins. It is constructed from concrete and rebar and was once painted with Crylon brand spraypaint.
SCP-173 is animate and malevolent, if given the chance it will kill anyone within it's line of site. It's weakness however is that it does not move while being watched. Despite this paralysis it is still highly dangerous; able to cover at least 2 meters in the literal blink of an eye. It typicaly kills by either snapping the victim's neck from behind, or grabbing the victim's throat and strangling him. Whatever animates SCP-173 does not give it much force with which to break things, as seen above a large room with unbarred windows is fully capable of containing it. It's grip however is unbreakable, as when it is not moving the statue is as hard and strong as concrete.
While left alone in it's room, one can hear a stone-on-stone scraping from within that is believed to be the sound of the SCP-173 moving about.
The reddish brown substance on the floor is a combination of feces and blood. We don't know (nor wish to find out) where it comes from or how it arrives but SCP-173's container will slowly fill with these substances. In order to ensure that bacterial growth within does not begin to damage the building it is contained in, and to maintain some level of sanitation, the enclosure must be cleaned on a bi-weekly basis.

Nice back story on it to bad it doesn't actually exist or I'd be tempted to kill it just to say I killed it.

In reference to creepy pictures with interesting text that's supposed to supplement a backstory of some sorts. I do like the fact that it's some sort of lab report thing. Makes it even more interesting.

Either way, we need more of this!

Bad grammar is bad.

It's = contraction of "it is."

Its = possessive form of "it."

Errors like that always take me out of the scary story and put me into Grammar Nazi mode.

The story itself isn't very well written, though admittently, not much better than I could probably do. at any rate, it needs more fluidity, It reads like an official report written by a high-schooler, which, I'd bet you are.

Overall, it is a good backstory for the picture.
It just needs some further revision.

So question: If site personnel need to destroy item SCP-173, and approached it with jackhammers to that end, would it be able to fight back if people were looking at it?

I'm just thiking ahead to certain contingencies if, you know, the wrong people find out about it.
>> Anonymous
>>141356
It's probably not very intelligent. It may be a defense mechanism for it to not move while others are looking at it to try and trick them into believing it's inanimate or dead. So, if it feels it's life is sufficiently threatened it may move and defend itself regardless of being looked at.

>>141359
That was my concern. There are other means at our disposal, but mundane equipment would attract the least notice when the budget is submitted in September.

The possibility of introducing Item #SCP-398 to the same containment area and letting the two eliminate each other remains as well.

Shoot it in the head. That always works.

Okay, try starting it this way, then continue on later in the form of summary reports at later dates.

USAF File: C203-92b
Date: Jun 7, 1952

Filed by: Capt. Henry Milan
----

Item found outside of Yuma, Arizona on March 24th.

During regular training exercises, Corporal Ben Flynn and his squadron came across an strange statue in an empty installation set to be used for future bombing run training. The statue is approximately seven feet tall and human in form. The arms and legs are disproportionate to the head and torso, resembling a fetus. Strange coloration was noted on the face of the statue and it was posed against on of the inner walls of the building. Upon further inspection, Corporal Flynn noted that the statue is composed of mostly cement and is possibly reinforced with steel rebar. It is likely man-made.

Further investigation of the surrounding area yielded no other signs of transportation for the statue other that misshapen foot prints. It is likely that the statue was placed there by locals looking to create a stir or possibly protest the war. Private Allen Benson took the supplied photograph to document the area in the event that an investigation to the security of the training area is to take place.

Private Benson reported that he heard the sound of heavy scraping within the building shortly after he left. This prompted a search of the other rooms in case any civilians may have still been in the building but were undetected. The area was given an "all clear" by the squad commander and the statue was left in the building. It was deemed necessary that on June 9th, a final morning inspection of the building will be conducted before it is demolished to make certain that no civilians have returned to the area and to ensure no lives are lost.

Also, names being added are awkward. But first names would never appear at all except maybe for initials.

>>141370

Blast me and my lack of try!

But if it helps OP clean out his thought box and liven up the story to something of a readable item, then perhaps it was worth it.
>> Anonymous
>>141370
The names might be censored out of the final. Don't want people tracking those folks down and finding out what they know.
>> Anonymous
>>141377

Valid point. Ideally the text would be done in a typewriter font and printed out. Then you could black out the names and any other details that should be censored (like location and such) with a magic marker, artificially age it with some lemon juice and a light bulb, then scan it back and show it as an uploaded file you got thanks to the Freedom of Information Act. Add a personal back story as to why you were looking it up and create your own website to make hapless people expel bricks rapidly from their rectum.
>> Anonymous
You should do this for other pictures :D The story is a tiny bit flawed, but still fantastic. Don't let people tell you it's crap; the lab-report format is awesome for this purpose.
>> Anonymous
It would be horribly creepy to be in with it after reading the lab report; imagine even having it a football field's length away from you but without anyone else to help watch it. Every time you blink it would seem to instantly teleport five yards toward you, frozen statue-still again by the time your blink is over. If you turned your head to look around for an escape route, it would be too late.

It's a good technique in horror movies to show the monster less, rather than more. Like the shark in jaws, a lot of why it's so scary is that it's always lurking right there, and you almost never see it.

Is is SPC or SCP? Gotta keep it the same.
>> Anonymous
>>142552
It should be SCP for Special Containment Procedure.

If you want to make it sound like a quasi-military black operation, it would have an organization name taken from the beginning of each word, something like SPECCONPROD. If it were an item of equipment the word order would go from the most general description to the most specific, which generally means backwards: (Procedure, Containment, Special, or PSC for short)
