So /x/, what do you guys think of Stargate? Stupid question, I know it's an awesome movie, amirite? I mean, do you think it's possible that aliens had contact with ancient cultures? If so, which ones? What do you think we've gained from their communications if anything?
>> Mage-kern
Note: we are the aliens.

Magic aliens, I know this because magic is science
>> five stars gate
what scares the alienated snot out of me is that there were cameos by two different u s air force chiefs of staff ranking generals...and in real(?) life there is an "operation fallen angel" that is tasked with shooting down ufos for scavenging parts...from bodies both meat and ufo
>> Mage-kern
what if the ufo is made of meat?

i believe it! i think roswell was one of those incidents, possibly one of the firsts? maybe we crossed a line with it and have started something we may not be able to finish.

The real U.S. government "Stargate" program was a Remote Viewing program. But, as to your question, yes, I think we've been visited and are being visited. The ancient Sumerians and modern Dogons were both contacted, I think.

what scares the green fantodsnot out of me is that there were cameos by two different u s air force chiefs of staff in that...while the jet jockeys are shooting ufos out of the sky in "operation fallen angel" for scavenging parts

Roswell was one of the Project Mogul balloon trains designed to watch for Soviet nuclear weapons tests.

If we are being visited by aliens today, they're probably just coming to Vegas to gamble. Most aliens tend to avoid us since they're worried about what's asleep in the south pacific.
>> Anonymous
What if there were "humans" here before us? What if we are the aliens. We sent people here, and through some cataclysmic event... our knowledge and memories were lost.
>> Anonymous
Roswell was *not* one of the Project Mogul balloon trains...

Fixed.

yes, this is a common idea

It is possible, but there are several problems with it, mainly the lack of homo sapiens in ancient fossil records. There also is the presence of hominid progression throughout history, showing a clear path of evolution.

However, there is currently no clear evidence of a transitional species from early hominid to modern human. Perhaps this hole could be explained by the existence of a very early human civilization that either de-evolved or somehow existed in a way that would not leave any remains. Examples: *cultural emphasis on cremation after death
*living on sky islands
*living in an area that no longer exists
-such as a "garden of eden" or an area that is now underwater/subterranean

*on another planet
*OR an apocalyptic event occurred at some point and wiped out an entire layer of the fossil record (lolwut)

We have tons of transitional fossils. The 'missing link' we're looking for now is the human/chimp common ancestor.

Genetic evidence though means that we don't really need those fossils for anything other than satisfying our own curiosity.

SKY ISLANDS? oh shit!
what about Atlantis? haha (stargate), but seriously, the lost city. there are TONS of "missing cities" throughout history.
>> Mage-kern
>>501731

..like?

Sodom and Gomorrah?
El Dorado?
>> Anonymous
>>501731

A lot of the missing cities have either been found (Ur, Soddom and Gommorah, Alexandria, Troy, etc), or are likely to be mythical due to a lack of corroborating evidence from other sources. El Dorado and Atlantis really only come to us from a single source.

shit sucks

El Dorado was pure invention. Riding in a boat across the Atlantic for 3 months will drive anyone crazy.

who painted that? Frazetta or an imitator?

pretty sure it's an imitator or someone who painted similarly. i don't think Frazetta did any cthulhu paintings.

i'd own them.

like a nuclear blast, possibly? could this aliens have visited us before (or we're the aliens) theory fit alongside the Phantom time hypothesis? we've been doing this for years you guys we just don't know it!
>> Anonymous
>>501797

i think you're right--the signature is done in an immitative style, but (though it's small and pixelated) i don't think it's "Frazetta"
>> Mage-kern
Perhaps our ancestors were transcribed into this space-time continuum by the mixing of an ancient phantom timeline with the timeline that we currently are experiencing.

Stargate is great! There's a new movie, Ark of Truth, out March 11th that I can't wait for. There's info on it at http://stargatehub.com/

Of course they're real ;)
>> Lt Col Greyson
Yes, Stargate is a good show, isn't it? I'm sure that the military can be trusted not to keep something that important secret, though, so you've got nothing to worry about.
There is especially little of interest at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, so really I don't think you should bother going all the way out there.

I have been watching the new series with half the cast from farscape in and its absolutely toss! Seriously it is fucked up beyond help, I loved it with jack oniel in but now it has no charm to it. Even ti ulk (sp) looks even more pissed off than usual at the fact each show gets worse as the series goes on! Still not watched any of atlantis but again this looks utter tripe!
If you want to know bout the "real" Stargates goto youtube here http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=jd2SYPr6g9A
if this is true or not its still an interesting listen!
>> Anonymous
what if they made the movie as a coverup to the actual happenings of a similar case IRL?
you know plausible deny-ability

What if all these Ufos werent actually from space, but deep within our oceans. Atlantis! they dont talk to us because theyre more evolved than us, plus they dont want us poking our noses in their buisness.

whats more probable, aliens coming from really really far away to a small insignificant planet, or they were always here and are now capable of leaving the planet?

i've been thinking of this for quite some time, it's not that much of a stretch and as you say, much more probable. there are a lot of sightings of "space"crafts entering/exiting the oceans, so hey! just maybe!

Stargate and the military
The USAF cooperates closely with the producers of the program. Two successive Chiefs of Staff of the USAF, Generals Michael E. Ryan and John P. Jumper, have appeared in the show, playing themselves. Ryan appeared in the episode "Prodigy" because of his fascination with science fiction, especially space exploration. Jumper made a cameo appearance in "Lost City", the episode that was originally slated to be the show's last. The Air Force Association recognized Richard Dean Anderson at its 57th annual dinner on September 14, 2004 for his work as actor and executive producer of the show, and "for the show's continuous positive depiction of the Air Force".[19] Many of the extras portraying US Air Force personnel are in fact real US Air Force personnel.[19]
