Anyway, work on the ridiculousness of people mysteriously gouging out their own eyes and the non-existent IP address. It doesn't really add anything to the story besides more inexplicable weirdness, and there already seems to be enough of that. Why couldn't they just carve up their arms and self-terminate? Maybe instead the IP is registered to a host known to be defunct, or it simply isn't mapped to one.
