I stepped out onto the tiny balcony off my little apartment.

Coffee in hand, I looked down at the people and cars buzzing around the streets.

Releasing a sigh and breathing in again, fumes from delivery trucks and trash packed in alleys below mingled with that minute hint of air.

Midnight, and the city is still pulsing.

Putting down my mug on the kitchen table, I settled on the couch.

Above me, a small smattering of voices distributed among the top floor.
Below, the pattering sound of a shower.
The left wall, a faint sound of alternative rock bumping into my room.
