After being informed more about "ARG"'s, I've come to the conclusion that it's /most likely/ not anything of the sort. The only person who might have the intelligence to effectively orchestrate this is the friend I've mentioned, but how far could he take it? He doesn't know me in reality.

Believe me when I say none of the people I know or have ever met in reality have enough time, intelligence, and interest in messing with me to produce an ARG using myself as a victim. The odds are pretty small that this isn't a third party I'm unfamiliar with.

Trailhead: The initial site, e-mail, IM, etc. that gets the Alternate Reality Game going. They can be anywhere, at anytime. It usually takes a while before they're noticed.

This seems very much like an ARG, even though you say it doesn't seem like one to you. Really, all they've done so far is contact you on MSN; not exactly a hard-to-orchestrate feat. Assuming anything further comes of this, you will most likely be contacted: usually there is some interaction to draw people in before the puzzles start. So it's unlikely you'll need to figure anything out right now. Let us know on the Unforum site if you do get anything more.
